The Order of the Daughters of the King Is an order for women who are communicants of the Episcopal Church. The mission of the order is the extension of Christ’s Kingdom through Prayer, Service, and Evangelism.

St. Mary’s is blessed to have a Chapter of Daughters of the King.  To become a Daughter of the King, women are required to go through a 12 week study program called discernment. During this study they learn about the order and the Daughters Rule of Life. The Rule of Life requires that they pray daily for those in need in our parish as well as our community. They are to help in service of the church, in areas such as Vestry, Choir, Altar Guild, Greeters, Prayer Quilt ministry and Ladle of Love and lastly evangelism of our Christian faith in our community. This study provides a time to learn of their own individual spirituality and growth in their faith.

After this discernment of study, the women decide if they are ready to make their commitment to the order. A date is chosen, and the candidates are presented before the congregation and take their oath to become a Daughter of the King. Their crosses are blessed and presented to them by the Rector. The Daughter of the King cross is a symbol of their commitment and is required to be worn daily.
