Our Prayer Quilt Ministry at St. Mary’s began in September of 2006. We continue to be so thankful to Irene Gares for bringing this lovely ministry to our parish many years ago and guiding us for these many years and being our inspiration. It is noted that we have distributed over 915 quilts as of this date. How glorious and a beautiful privilege it is! Parishioners have generously prayed and tied prayer knots over these years providing the recipients with much needed comfort
The highlight of 2024 was sending a beautiful blessed, lovingly tied quilt to HRH , King Charles lll and one to HRH Catherine, Princess of Wales for comfort, faith, strength and grace as they valiantly battled cancer. We received heartfelt thank you notes to the parish for this gesture of faith support!
Our group meets the third Thursday of each month in the Vestry Room in the Guild House from 1 to 3 pm. September through June. Quilts are always available throughout the year. All are welcome to join us. We can always use more sewers. Assembled and pinned quilts are also available for anyone who would like to participate by sewing at home if you are unable to attend.
Quilt forms to request a quilt for someone in need are available outside the Church office door. You can select a quilt from the closet at the top of the stairway outside the office and leave at the office. Please let us know when you have requested and selected a quilt so we can record the information and prepare it for its blessing at the next available service.
We are led by Sharon Walton who inspires and guides us with her amazing quilting.
